HENDERSON: Joann Henderson was a trailblazer, an artist, and a dedicated matriarch whose impact on the beauty industry and her community will never be forgotten. Born on December 23, 1938, she lived a remarkable life filled with hard work, passion, and a relentless drive to achieve excellence. On February 23, 2025, she peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and inspiration. Joann was married to the love of her life, Johnny F. Henderson, for 50 wonderful years. Though he preceded her in death, their union was blessed with two devoted sons, Terrell Maurice Henderson (Rosa) and Jocko Demetris Henderson. Also left to cherish her memory (brother) Joseph, (sister)  Patricia, (brother) Warren, (sister) Audrey, (brother) Anthony, (brother) Barry and a host of nieces and nephews and relatives who now carry forward her memory and values. From an early age, Joann displayed an incredible work ethic. She channeled her ambition into the beauty and fashion industry, where she quickly rose to prominence. Through her determination and talent, she became the proud owner of several successful beauty salons in Atlanta, Georgia. Her entrepreneurial spirit set her apart, making her a respected figure in the industry and an inspiration to many aspiring stylists. Her career took an extraordinary turn when she joined forces with Bronner Brothers, a prestigious name in the beauty world. This opportunity led her to international acclaim when she traveled to Germany in the early 1970s and won the World Cup Hair Show, earning the title of the best stylist in the world. This milestone solidified her reputation as a master of her craft and opened doors to new and exciting opportunities. Hollywood soon took notice of Joann’s unparalleled skill. She became a sought-after stylist for major film and television productions, working on iconic projects such as In the Heat of the Night, Rich Man, Poor Man, and Space Hunter. Her expertise and creativity helped bring characters to life, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Beyond her professional achievements, Joann became a woman of unwavering faith. Even in her later years, when mobility became a challenge, her spirit remained strong. She found great comfort and inspiration in the teachings of Dr. Charles Stanley’s television ministry, faithfully watching and listening to his sermons and drawing strength from the Word of God. Joann touched countless lives with her kindness and unwavering support. She was a mentor, a leader, and above all, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Though she is no longer with us, Joann Henderson’s legacy will live on through the lives she influenced and the contributions she made to the beauty and entertainment industries.
